Charles J. Tamborello, C.J. as he was known to almost everyone, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1961 from the University of Houston. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. While stateside after a tour in Korea, he met Marge, the love of his life. They were married in July of 1953. Fifty-two years later, they have added four children and four grandchildren to their family.
Following graduation from UH, C.J. spent three years helping his family develop their land. Where there was once a bam and horses, there is now the Southwest Freeway and Twelve Oaks Hospital. From 1964 to 1974, he was an owner of Tam Con Incorporated and from 1974 to 1976, he served as General Manager of Hanna Construction. In 1976 C.J. founded his own firm, Tamborello Engineering Corporation.
C.J. became a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas in 1969. He was dedicated to his profession. In addition to being a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, he served as president of the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society, the San Jacinto G1apter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the University of Houston Engineering Alumni Association. He earned utmost respect from his peers and clients through his work in these organizations and through his unwavering service to engineering.
C.J. died on October 29, 2005. He lived a full and rewarding life and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
